Our Findings

The visit to El Punto was a mixed experience, but the first impression was especially difficult to overlook. Finding the entrance was not straightforward, with the bar signage appearing as graffiti on a wall and the venue sitting within a run-down shopping centre in Cypress Flats Plaza. Other guests were also heard struggling to find the bar, and the reviewer had to help direct patrons inside. Before even reaching the venue, the arrival experience already felt confusing and poorly presented. Once inside, the contrast was noticeable. El Punto has a much better interior than its exterior suggests, with a cosy bar atmosphere, comfortable seating, a stage area, and a generally well-designed space. However, parts of the venue showed wear, including faded and ripped posters and a pool table that appeared tattered, although this seems to be intentional to the interior design. The pricing was a clear strength, with beer at $150 and cocktails priced below comparable venues. The menu also offered a strong range of drink options. The main issue was service. Bar staff were slow to respond, appeared distracted, and did not seem in any rush to serve. Product knowledge also felt limited, with recommendations such as a mojito and a mocktail on draught. One moment summed up the visit clearly: after asking for a Sol, the reviewer waited 11 minutes and was met with the response, “a soda?” With a Spotlight Score of 4.8 and a Needs Improvement rating, El Punto has clear potential through its pricing, atmosphere, and interior concept, but the poor access, slow service, and lack of staff engagement seriously held the experience back.
